Kaleen Sanois

Kaleen Sanois graduated in 2015 from the University of Trinidad and Tobago with a degree in The Fine Arts of Fashion Design. During her scholastic career at the Caribbean Academy of Fashion and Design, she has received two awards with distinction: the first, in her third year of studies, which was the highly-coveted Designers Critic Award.

The second commendation was the illustrious Student of the Year Award, which she received upon ending her university career, after having presented her thesis collection, which received a standing ovation at the CAFD Senior Thesis and Designer Critic Showcase.

The young and talented fashion designer has always had a vested interest in the Carnival industry. Her mother, who was always involved in the behind the scenes logistics of mas, has exposed Kalene to an element of fashion with a culturally-inviting twist. Taking special pleasure in J’Ouvert and Monday Mas Traditions, her garments tend to reflect the beauty, vibrancy and intensity of the traditions of Trinidad and Tobago.

Inspiration comes from all forms of influence for Kaleen. As a minimalist designer, she prides

herself on subtle details and muted palates, which are somewhat echoed in her Carnival offerings. While her minimalist approach to designs rely on subtle details and muted colour palates, her carnival design ideas celebrate the silhouettes, layering techniques and opulence

Kaleen takes this unique opportunity to be a protégé of Brian Mac Farlane to continue venturing in the world of expression and using fashion as a bridge to curate emotion into every element of Carnival Design.
